The Worst Casting Decisions in Challenge History
With the cast for season 36 of The Challenge recently departing (thanks to u/NovaRogue for putting together the thread), let’s look at the biggest mistakes the casting department has ever made.
This article will only be about people who were put on the show and not be about people who were left off.
Honorable Mentions
Lacey Buehler (Battle of the Seasons)- Nobody could have possibly predicted Lacey to come onto The Challenge seven years after her Real World season aired, but she was put on the show solely because she was needed for the format. Surely, champions Johanna and Rachel M were contacted to be on the Austin team before Lacey was, but she was the last option to join Wes, Danny and Melinda.
Liz and Julia Nolan (War of the Worlds)- One twin would have been fine, but what was the point of having both of them? Casting goes out of there way to make sure there aren’t redundant characters on the show. Luckily, Liz was eliminated in the opening purge, while Julia was a non-factor in her four episodes.
