War of the Worlds 2 Episode 6 Power Rankings
Every week, I’m going to rank the players based on their impact in the episode. These rankings are going to be completely subjective (so please don’t spend too much time critiquing them) based on my feelings of how entertaining the characters were, how they did competitively/politically, and how the episode impacted their overall game.
I’m going to keep running totals to determine who has the best season on War of the Worlds 2. The winner of this prestigious championship will be awarded the grand prize of nothing.
Let’s get to it.
RANKINGS
25. Idris- I got a question for you Subtitle King. How do you expect to be subtitled if you don’t talk the entire episode? Last place for you.
24. Turbo- It looks like we’ll finally be getting a big episode from him next week, but he continues to be almost invisible this season.
23. Joss- Speaking of invisible.
22. Cara- After earning the top spot in my rankings last week, it was a down week for Cara with not much content in this episode.
21. Zach- Missed the question about what is the dog’s name in The Simpsons. Zach said his dad didn’t let him watch The Simpsons growing up because he said it would make him stupid. That stellar parenting clearly worked out, as Zach has put that brain by being on 11 seasons of reality TV.
20. Kayleigh- She had Bear kiss her (boobs) on a dare and continues to be on the right side of the numbers on Team UK, but this has been an extremely quiet season from Kayleigh outside of episode two.
19. Tori- She didn’t know that octopuses have three hearts. Neither did I if I’m being honest.
18. Ashley- She got her question correct about who were the participants in the War of 1812. Not that it was the most difficult question ever, but Ashley is one of the most sneakily smart people on this show.
17. Ninja- She was in the tribunal this week in and sent in Jenny, but I don’t understand how a girl with a neuroscience degree doesn’t participate in the trivia challenge.
16. Bear- Spider Grizzly Bear got arguably the hardest question of the entire trivia challenge. How the hell are you supposed to know what the most streamed song of all time is? What is that even based on? Spotify? YouTube? Apple Music? Sounds like a bullshit question to me, Teej.
Bear also gave Kayleigh a kiss on the tits this episode, making Georgia jealous. I expect this is a storyline that will continue throughout the season.
I’m worried about Bear next episode, as I think he’s clearly on the bottom of the UK guys. With Rogan, Ross, Idris and CT having the numbers, if Team UK loses (and of course it probably will since Team US has been slaughtering them all season), it will send in either Bear, Theo or Kyle.
Theo has already gone in and is arguably the UK’s best player, so sending him in again would be ridiculous. Bear has already gone in and taken out Wes, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he is thrown in over Kyle since Kyle seems to be friends with both CT and Rogan.
15. Esther- She showed a spark this week in the deliberation, and has positioned herself in the majority alliance.
But this has to be the last girls week Esther is safe, right? The only girls not in Rogan’s alliance are Jenny and Georgia, who are pretty clearly two of the best girls on Team UK. Esther is the only dead weight left on Team UK, and they would be idiots to keep her around.
14. Kam- Got her Mean Girls question correct, which I guess is a decent accomplishment even though it was probably the easiest question of the whole challenge.
We also got some Leroy/Kam content, the first we’ve seen this entire season. We’ll see if we get any more progression on their relationship as the season progresses.
13. CT- After trying to play a neutral game to start the season, CT has taken a stand with the Rogan side. If I’m being honest, I don’t really understand it.
I don’t know if he views the Georgia/Bear/Theo/Kyle/Nicole/Jenny side as being too close with each other with him having no chance to break in, but it’s been bizarre seeing him throw in Theo over Rogan, and then Nicole over Esther. It seems like he’s more interested in playing the political game than keeping Team UK strong.
12. Jordan- He lived up to his (self-proclaimed) reputation of being one of the smartest people on the show (or as he called it Dumdum Master), getting both of his trivia questions right.
11. Theo- I didn’t know how to weigh answering questions correct in the mission versus answering questions hilariously wrong in the rankings. But are we more likely to remember Kam getting a question about Mean Girls right, or Theo thinking the only continent to be in all four hemispheres is Antarctica, or that the numerical value of pi is two? I’m gonna go with dumdum Theo.
10. Paulie- He got into a big fight with Josh where he acted like he was going to beat the shit out of him even though he knew there was no chance they would actually come to blows.
He also got both of his spelling questions right, showing he actually does have a couple of brain cells up there.
9. Josh- I liked seeing him go at Paulie despite their friendship, as Paulie deserved to be called out for lying about throwing in Bananas (even though Josh also betrayed Paulie by putting in Wes).
Him finally getting to make out with Georgia was good for him…I guess? This whole Georgia/Josh thing kind of reminds me of Jenn and Adam on Rivals. Like Georgia and Josh, Jenn was wildly out of Adam’s league, but she flirted with him just to pass the time in the house.
There’s a zero percent chance Georgia and Josh’s relationship goes anywhere, but in a cringy way it’s been fun to watch.
8. Nicole- I know she got smoked by Jenny and barely put up a fight, but the girl delivered an all-time classic moment by saying that there are 50 seconds in five minutes.
Give Nicole credit, she at least admitted she’s not the smartest girl around, calling herself clinically dumb.
Will she get another shot, or will this be the last time we see her? I think we might see her again just to give Georgia someone else to play off of.
7. Rogan- He missed his trivia question, but continues to hold the political power on Team UK.
Rogan also admitted he has strong feelings for Dee, which I’m not quite sure I believe but it was nice to see him supporting her after Dee fell apart at the bar.
6. Kyle- This has been a fairly quiet season by Kyle’s normal standards, but he still delivers in the confessional booth.
He had two great lines this week. The first was when Rogan missed his question about how many men have walked on the moon, Kyle said, “I hope Rogan’s chair shoots up in the air, the cord snaps, and it’s now 13 men on the moon instead of 12.”
He also was so impressed by Jordan and Tori’s relationship that he wanted them to adopt him as their son.
Kyle is getting fed up with how Team UK has voted in the last two deliberations, and it wouldn’t surprise me if we see him explode soon.
5. Jenny- I said last week that Jenny could be an all-time great competitor if she shows she can have solid endurance and be decent at puzzles.
Well, while this elimination wasn’t just a puzzle, she at least showed that she’s not a complete idiot in the Proving Ground. It was more impressive to see her scale up the walls so many times to earn her win, proving once again that she is one of the best female competitors on this season.
4. Dee- This episode wasn’t a great look for Dee. She admitted that she loves Rogan after knowing him for what, three weeks?
She had a meltdown at the bar, and thought that South Africa and Russia were continents in trivia.
Still, Dee is providing us a lot of entertainment this season, which I would have never guessed after a pretty quiet season on War of the Worlds.
3. Nany- We hadn’t seen much from Nany before this episode, but she was a focal point this week. She got to be the speaker of the tribunal, and did her best to help get the numbers to her side.
Nany’s reason for targeting Esther instead of Jenny was more about her protecting the people she was aligned with than it was about her being afraid of Jenny coming back and targeting her.
Nany is clearly friends with Georgia, Nicole, Bear and Kyle, and wanted to protect their side of the numbers. Putting in Esther not only would have given Nicole her best chance to win, but it also would have potentially eliminated someone from the Rogan side, thus swinging the numbers in favor of the Georgia side.
It didn’t work out and now Nany likely has a huge target on her back from the US side, but in all honesty she was probably going to be the next girl sent in anyway since she was Team Bananas and is the weakest girl on their team.
2. Georgia- Yet another big week for Georgia. After getting jealous of Bear making out with Kayleigh, she went and snogged Josh.
She hilariously tried to make Paulie mess up during trivia by making noise, prompting TJ to tell her that she was being ridiculous.
Georgia also caused a fight between Rogan and Dee by letting her know that Rogan told her that he will forget about Dee after the show.
Her dramatics and ugly crying for Nicole in the Proving Ground capped off her big episode, and she now sits at the top of my rankings.
1 Leroy- It was nice to see Leroy take center stage in an episode for the first time in awhile.
He did his best to try to unite the US team, and took on a leadership position for the first time in his career.
While it wouldn’t have been a surprise to see him side with his friend Nany on the tribunal vote, he made the move that he believed was best for himself, which was sending in Jenny.
I don’t know if Leroy’s decision is going to help his game that much, or if it actually will make Team US less divided. He’s still on the wrong side of the numbers on the US team, but he might have positioned himself ahead of guys like Jordan and Zach.
Stray Thoughts
- Overall, this to me was by far the weakest episode of the season. A trivia challenge is always entertaining, and there was some decent stuff with Rogan/Dee and the dynamics between Leroy and Nany, but overall there just wasn’t much in the way of dramatics.
- I always love trivia, but this one was fairly forgettable, other than some hilariously bad answers by Theo, Dee and Nicole. Watching the competitors get launched out of their chair was cool the first time, but I’m a believer that the trivia challenge should always be held over water. I also don’t really get why only six people from each team participated.
- Trapped was one of the more physically demanding female eliminations that I can remember in recent seasons. It seemed like Jenny had to scale the wall many times to complete it, and Nicole seemed like she only made it up a few trips.
- Episode Grade: C+
