What Can We Expect in the Future From This Rookie Class?

For the first time since Battle of the Seasons (2002), The Challenge had an astonishing 20 rookies debut on Spies, Lies & Allies.

While we can’t predict the future of how successful this rookie class will end up being, we can look to the past to determine the question: what constitutes a successful rookie class on The Challenge?

I wanted to look at all the major rookie classes from the past (that had at least 10 first-season players) and see how successful the show typically is at turning rookies into mainstays.

I’m not gonna include early seasons Battle of the Seasons or Battle of the Sexes, since a lot of the rookies on those seasons had their RW or RR seasons debut in the 90s but hadn’t done a Challenge yet.

The Gauntlet

Rookies: 13 (Alton, Irulan, Rachel B, Trishelle, Matt, Cara Z, Darrell, Dave G, Abram, Sarah G, Steve, Tina, Katie)

2 Seasons or More: 6/13

3 Seasons or More: 6/13

5 Seasons or More: 4/13 (Katie, Darrell, Abram, Tina)

8 Seasons or More: 3/13 (Katie, Darrell, Abram)

Notes: The Gauntlet never gets nearly enough attention in the discussion of best rookie classes of all time. It brought huge names…
